March Marathon: Writing not Running

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Have you heard about the March Marathon the folks over at Throwing Up Words have launched? I learned about this notion from Ally Condie who wrote a blog about it. Get details at their website: http://throwingupwords.wordpress.com/2010/03/02/ann-dee-fevers-and-marathons/#comment-840

I pledged my participation in the three day event to take place March 18-20. There is no cost and there is no charity other than your own love of writing. How would it feel to write for three solid days? How great would it be to meet some crazy lofty goal and, in the space of three days, completely transform your work in progress?

Perhaps writing for three straight days is impractical for you, just pledge what works. Perhaps you aren’t comfortable pledging a word count, pledge an amount of time instead. The point of the marathon is to carry you on wings out of the murky middles of some current project, to ignite your imagination and take you to unknown places, to motivate and inspire you that so many people from all over the place have a common bond: the written word.

My word count goal: 31,800 in three days

My reward if I make: an honest-to-goodness date with my lovey (not to mention having an extra 31,800 words spilled from my brain)

What about you?
